Vietnam has reported its strongest quarterly economic growth since the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the country’s growing importance in global manufacturing and trade.
Official figures released on Saturday showed the economy expanded by 9.95% year-on-year during the third quarter of 2026, supported by rising exports, industrial production and infrastructure investment. Export activity remained particularly strong, with September exports jumping more than 39% compared with the same period last year.
The performance comes as many multinational companies continue diversifying manufacturing operations across Asia.
Exports Drive Economic Momentum
Vietnam has become one of the world’s fastest-growing manufacturing hubs, benefiting from increased investment in electronics, technology production and industrial development.
Foreign direct investment also continued rising during the quarter, helping support factory expansion and employment growth.
Challenges Remain
Despite the strong growth, economists warn that inflationary pressures and energy costs could create challenges in the coming months.
Authorities are also monitoring electricity demand as industrial activity continues to expand rapidly.
