Americans have gone all in on “maxxing,” and Dictionary.com has named it the 2026 Word of the Year. Short for maximising, it can stand alone or be added to the end of any word to show you are doing something to the fullest. Dictionary.com says it reflects a culture increasingly focused on getting the most out of everything. It follows “67” last year and “demure” the year before, so which word would you have picked?
